At times, managing products in various unit of measures is vital. For instance, While you purchase products in a nation where the metric system is of application and sell it in a nation where the magnificent system is used, you should change over the units. Units of measures are an indication citing the unit used to handle a particular product. A unit of measure is assigned to all the inventory items and must be defined. Each product will have a stocking unit of measure, sales ordering unit of measure and a purchasing unit of measure.
It is possible to Create Unit Of Measure In Odoo and set up Odoo to work with various units of measure for one product. In business the unit of measure is defined as,
“Standard unit or system of units by means of which a quantity is accounted for and expressed.”
Configuration :
Inventory →Configuration→Settings→Products
Select Units of Measure in Products.
Then Save changes.
After this, go to:
Inventory →Configuration →Units of Measures
Here you can see UoM Category and UoM
In UoM Category there are different categories of measurements such as volume,weight, length,etc.
If you want to create new category click on create button.
For setting unit of measure UoM in Units of Measures.
Here you can see several measurements. You can also add new units of measure by clicking create button.
Here create a new unit of measure gallon for category volume.
Then select a type ,There are 3 types
Here I choose Bigger than the reference Unit of Measure.
Then set the ratio.
1 gallon = 3.785 liters
Suppose we have to purchase Coconut Oil with the unit of measure gallon.
Which means making purchase order in gallon and sales in liter.
In Product master we can set Unit of Measure and Purchase Unit of Measure in Odoo.
Go to:
Master Data→Products
Select a product or create .In General Information tab set the Unit Of Measure.
