In Odoo, a Warehouse is the real building with all your stored things. You can set up different warehouses and make moves between these stockrooms. A Storage Locations in Odoo warehouse is a particular space within it. It is considered as the sub-location of your warehouse as a rack, a floor, a passageway, and so on. Along these lines, a location is a part of one stockroom just and it is not possible to connect one area to different warehouses. So You can arrange as many areas as you require under one warehouse. With the help of useful storage methods in Odoo Inventory, one can effectively manage all the internal operations happening within a company.
In Odoo there are three types of locations:
These are the internal locations of your warehouse and your stock in hand is being kept. You are the owner of this location. This can be the loading and unloading space in the warehouse, a shelf etc.
The owner of the location is the customer or the vendor. This works same as the physical location. The only difference is you are not the owner.
These are the locations which are not existing physically. These are created when you want to keep the stock of a lost inventory or when you want to take into account products that are on their way to your warehouse.
So to create a location, we need to enable storage locations in the inventory settings.
Go to >Inventory module >configuration >Settings >Warehouse check >Storage Locations
To create a new location,
Go to >Inventory module >configuration >Warehouse Management >locations
Click create a button to create a new location.
Enter the name of the location. Select the parent location from the list. Then you can give all the required details and then click the save button to create the new location.
In short, this ensures the capacity of odoo that the inventory management erp supports multi warehouse and multi location structure.
