The term ERP was used in 1990 by Gartner, but its actual root came in 1960s. At that time, the concept used in inventory management and control in the manufacturing phase. Software engineers created programs to analyse inventory, reconcile balances, and report on status. in 1970s, this had developed into Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems for managing production processes.
